I am a fully qualified psychotherapist & counsellor.
I have many years experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds around issues including depression, anxiety, relationship and family difficulties, bereavement and loss, abuse including sexual abuse, trauma, low self esteem, stagnation, retirement and difficulties related to pregnancy and parenthood.
It can sometimes feel difficult to reach out to those around us when we are experiencing emotional difficulties.
It may be that we fear being judged in some way or that we imagine we are ‘burdening’ other people.
Therapy can offer a safe, calm and supportive space to talk things through.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe that much of our emotional difficulty in the present can be linked to significant events and relationships in our past.
By working with a trained professional to explore and understand this, we can gain new insight into our emotional world, leading to greater self-acceptance, new ways of relating and lasting positive change.
I usually suggest meeting for an initial consultation.
At an initial consultation you can tell me about yourself and what is going on for you at the moment that is making you think about therapy.
It is also an opportunity for us to explore your expectations of therapy and for you to ask questions and see if you would feel comfortable working with me
If you decide to proceed, we would then agree a therapy arrangement based around your individual therapeutic needs.
This would involve our meeting at the same time every week for a 50 minute therapy session either on an open-ended basis or in a time-limited arrangement.
